Scope of Practice
You are required to answer the following questions by reflecting on your practice from your last placement and relate it directly with the Enrolled Nurses Standards for Practice (NMBA, 2016). You are required to write this assessment in essay format utilising the elements of professional reflective practice. Where required, reference all you work. Try to, where possible use a real example from placement to show how you can demonstrate theory within your practice.

There are three (3) Domains to an Enrolled Nurses (EN) Scope of Practice; as seen below; and ten (10) Standards within those. Please answer the following questions in accordance with these. Individual standards have been identified in italics for each question, these are to help guide your answers.

Domain Professional and Collaborative Practice
Standard 1: Functions in accordance with the law, policies and procedures affecting EN practice
Q1: Explain a skill you performed on placement that was not satisfactory and explain the impact it had on the client and environment? (Utilise standards 1.4, 1.6, 1.9 1.10)

Standard 2: Practises nursing in a way that ensures the rights, confidentiality, dignity and respect of people are upheld.
Q2: How have you demonstrated these within your practice? (Utilise standards 2.3 and 2.4)

Standard 3: Accepts accountability and responsibility for own actions.
Q3: Critically reflect on your answer from question 1. (Utilise Standard 3.2)
Domain Provision of Care
Standard 4: Interprets information from a range of sources in order to contribute to planning appropriate care
Q4: List the documentation you used in question 1 skill and explain, from a student’s perspective, where there are risks of interpretation? (Utilise standards 4.2, 4.4)

Standard 5: Collaborates with the RN, the person receiving care and the healthcare team when developing plans of care
Q5: Explain who and how you have communicated within the multidisciplinary team? (Utilise standards 5.1, 5.5, 5.6)

Standard 6: Provides skilled and timely care to people whilst promoting their independence and involvement in care decision–making
Q 6: Explain how you have delivered primary nursing? (Utilise Standards 6.1, 6.3, 6.6)

Standard 7: Communicates and uses documentation to inform and report care
Q7: Give a sample of your clinical handover for question 1 skill. (Utilise standards 7.2, 7.3, 7.4, 7.5)
Domain Reflective and Analytical Practice
Standard 8: Provides nursing care that is informed by research evidence
Q8: Provide a research article that relates directly with the skill from queston1 that can be used as evidence base practice. (Utilise standards 8.2, 8.5) * You can attach this as an appendix

Standard 9: Practises within safety and quality improvement guidelines and standards
Q9: Reflect on your practice as a student EN and describe where you have participated in quality improvement of practice and patient care. (Utilise standards 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 9.4)
Standard 10: Engages in ongoing development of self as a professional
Q10: Choose your most relevant industry body and explain their role and function? (Utilise standards 10.2, 10.3)

Q11: Reflect on your placement and give examples where you have participated in performance appraisals and practices. (Utilise standards 10.1, 10.5)
